Switzerland is full of family-friendly adventure from one end of the country to the other. Of course, with all the gorgeous mountains, you will definitely want to be sure to visit Jungfrau, one of the main summits of the Bernese Alps. At 13,642 feet, it is the highest peak in Switzerland. The train ride up the mountain and back is two hours each way, dotted all along the way with charming Swiss villages, some of which have been seemingly untouched by time! The children will find the passage through an ice tunnel in the mountain exciting, as well as an ice sculpture exhibit.

If you're visiting the Swiss Alps in winter, you should definitely consider taking a ride down the slopes on either skis or a snowboard. You don't even need to bring your own equipment, as you can rent ski equipment online at SNOWELL Ski Rental. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a first-time skier, there's something for everyone.

A wonderful place to for the active family to visit any time of year is Lac de Joux, a lake located in Jura Valley. In the summer, the lake offers swimming, sailing, and windsurfing in its warm waters as well as biking and hiking the trails around the lake. Come winter, the entire lake freezes over and becomes Europe’s largest natural outdoor ice rink.

Animal lovers in the family will be delighted by the Basel Zoo in central Grossbasel. Switzerland’s oldest zoo, it has been around since 1874. There are 600 species of animals that include giraffes, penguins, snow leopards and parrots. The Wildnispark Zürich features an educational forest trail and visitors can watch animals such as bears, bison and hares.

Adventure Park Davos Färich in Davos is a high wire and cycle park located at the foot of the Flüela mountain pass. This park offers five rope courses (including one for the kids) as well as a mountain bike course suitable for all riders. For the little ones who might not be so adventurous, there are also two playgrounds.

Most kids (especially little boys) are fascinated by dinosaurs and the Aathal Dinosaur Museum in Zurich will not disappoint them! This museum is the largest of its kind in Switzerland. The life-size models and skeletons will thrill dinosaur enthusiasts of all ages. Find a T-Rex skull and dinosaur eggs and learn more about dinosaurs than you ever thought possible.

After all the adventure, you’ll need a day of relaxing shopping and the Plainpalais Flea Market in Plainpalais is just the place. Take a leisurely stroll through the stands and talk to the vendors while uncovering a treasure trove of clothing, jewelry, toys, furniture and so much more.
