Portumna, on the north side of the lake, is a small town with an 18-hole golf course, boat and marina, which is very popular with sailors and fishermen. Activities nearby: Activities for all the family: On the south side of the lake, in Killalaoe-Ballina, about 45 km away, sailing and fishing courses for adults and children are offered during the summer season. Take a paddle out on the Shannon and enjoy the evening hustle and bustle in the small sailing harbor of Portumna, which is very hot in summer. On rainy days, the Jump'n Gyms Activity Center in Nenagh will delight children up to 12 years old .
