Location of Lychen: The climatic health resort and state-recognised resort of Lychen is located in the Uckermark and borders the Feldberg lake district and the Havel. Lychen is situated between extensive forests and in the middle of an attractive lake district with access to the public waterway to the Havel waters, the "Mecklenburg Brandenburg Lake District", as well as the North Sea and Baltic Sea. Situated on the north-western edge of the Uckermark, the small border town to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has become a popular holiday resort. Lychen rightly has the nickname "Märkisches Interlaken", which alludes to the town's exposed island location at the Lychener Seenkreuz and the countless bodies of water in the surrounding area. Lychen rightly bears the nickname "climatic health resort", as critics can still measure and enjoy inhaling the clean air today. Situated in the middle of this charming water- and forest-rich environment, Lychen is an ideal starting point for hiking, mushroom hunting, swimming, cycling tours and boat excursions. The Woblitz river and the Himmelpforter lock provide connections to the Stolpsee lake and the Havel waterway. To the south of the town is an extensive wooded area that extends far beyond the Havel and Bredereiche. This area, like the northern wide forest area up to Feldberg, is intended for nature conservation. The medieval town lies between Templin or Prenzlau and Fürstenberg or Feldberg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Lychen is an up-and-coming spa and tourist town with no industry, but is open to crafts and service providers. Enterprises that do not harm the natural resources, but are dependent on them, such as the Flöser, the Draisienenlinie are supported by the city fathers! Lychen is also connected to the public network of regular bus routes.
