Description
Vacation in architectural monument combines heritage conservation and tourism. Historically valuable buildings are taken over, gently renovated and rented out as holiday flats. The model provides a double benefit: the monuments are given a new future and the holiday guests experience a stay in an exceptional building. The idea is being realised by the foundation Vacation in architectural monument (FiB), which was founded in 2005 by the Swiss Heritage Society.
Car park: The car park is right next to the house and is not covered. Access to the house is guaranteed.
Public transport: Take the train to Brusio. From the village there is a bus (or an on-call bus) to the hamlet of Garbela. The stone house is located before the bend at the entrance to the hamlet.
Number of persons 6: A baby cot (up to 2 years) is available. The house can accommodate six guests (plus baby). The house is accessible from the garden as it is situated on a slight slope (terraced). You enter directly into the kitchen-dining room. On the 1st floor there is also a small parlour which is directly accessible from the kitchen. A staircase leads to the 2nd floor, where there are two double bedrooms and a bathroom. Outside the house in the Stüva, which is accessible from the garden, there is another double room. Nature and wildlife are very close here, with nocturnal animals sometimes pattering over the roof of the stüva. The floors are made of wood, which is why we recommend good slippers.
Garden: The front garden is terraced and offers plenty of space. The attached neighbouring houses also use the garden, with each house having its own outdoor space.

Open: The house can be rented from April to October.
Pets: Pets are not allowed.
Altitude: 800 metres above sea level.

The stone house is a listed building that has been renovated with great respect for the existing substance. The tenant is aware of this and treats the property with care. Although it is technically equipped to modern standards, certain functional details do not meet current standards and are a potential source of danger. The garden is terraced - as is common in the region - and has no railings. The tenant is aware of these circumstances.
