Das ca. 1750 erbaute Holzhaus (sog. Strickbau) liegt neben dem Luchtenbächlein am ursprünglichen Fussweg nach Heiden in der “Vogelherd”, unweit des Dorfes. Der herrliche Blick auf den Bodensee lädt zum Ausruhen und Verweilen ein. Der Witzweg (einfach lustig!) führt fast am Haus vorbei. Auch die anderen Wanderrouten im hügeligen “Vorderland”, ins nahe Biedermeierdorf “Luftkurort Heiden” (Bäder!) oder zum Ausflugsort St.Anton sind attraktiv, ebenso die Ausflüge an den Bodensee oder nach St.Gallen  – dies auch dank den guten Verbindungen mit dem Postauto. Und eine abwechslungsreise Fahrt mit den Appenzeller Zahnradbahnen (Heiden-Rorschach, Rheineck-Walzenhausen) gehört einfach zum Ferienprogramm!
