Description
Watchtower in Cornwall with Sea Views
House:
Discover the charm of The Watchtower at Western Watch, a unique pet-friendly retreat perched in the rugged beauty of Pendeen, Cornwall. This historic, converted watchtower offers breathtaking panoramic views over rolling fields, out to the sea and the iconic Pendeen Lighthouse. Originally a maritime granite barn, it was transformed by local ship's radio operator William Waters, who infused the space with authentic maritime touches like portholes, ship parts, and vintage radios, creating a captivating seafaring atmosphere. Inside, you'll find a cozy open-plan living area with a kitchenette, perfect for relaxing after days spent exploring Cornwall’s dramatic coastline, with your furry companion by your side. Upstairs, a charming double bedroom with low beams leads to the ‘Lookout,’ where you can step out onto the wraparound balcony. Savor your morning coffee or evening wine while soaking in the spectacular sea views. The garden, though enclosed, requires supervision for dogs, and offers outdoor seating and expansive lawns to enjoy the fresh coastal air. Just a mile downhill, the white lighthouse of Pendeen Watch beckons for scenic walks, and nearby beaches like Beach Cove and Portheras Cove are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and discovering Cornwall’s hidden coastal gems. Throughout the tower, art lover and printmaker Angela Annesley’s collection adorns the walls, offering a unique glimpse into her creative world. Guests enjoy exclusive access to her artworks, with the option to purchase at discounted prices. Please note the traditional open tread stairs and sloped ceilings may not suit everyone, and children are not accepted. One well-behaved dog is welcome, providing the perfect escape for nature-loving pet owners. For larger groups, an additional property on-site can accommodate up to six guests. Whether seeking tranquility or artistic inspiration, The Watchtower promises an unforgettable Cornish adventure.
