The Schoolhouse is a quirky detached south facing cottage offering a comfortable studio style, self catering accommodation on one level for two people. There is an adjoining "conservatory/garden room", a private enclosed garden with spectacular views up the fell. Accessible and close to Devoke Water, The Schoolhouse is conveniently situated for Ulpha, Seathwaite, Eskdale, Boot, Broughton-in-Furness and the coast.
An ideal stay for walking, wild swimming, fishing, cycling, climbing, sightseeing or simply relaxing. Located 1000' up on a fell with great views in all directions, particularly of Scafell, Crinkle Craggs and Bowfell. Devoke Water is only a ten minute walk away. The Eskdale and Duddon Valleys are only 3 miles either side with a variety of pubs (all dog friendly), with beautiful walks as well as numerous things to do and general sightseeing.
Approximately 1 mile from Fell Road, the road ends at the farm about 200 yards further down, so there is no passing traffic other than the farmer who on occasions will pass on his tractor. The Schoolhouse’s location is in the middle of a Cumbrian fell top farm, and being secluded away in the mountains on a clear night offers spectacular views of the nights sky, to only compliment the views in the day.
The entrance to The Schoolhouse is either through the Garden Room, or through a gate and path to the front door where you enter into the combined lounge / dining / kitchen / bedroom area with exposed oak beams and stone walls. The bedroom with a four poster bed, wardrobe and drawers leads to the bathroom, complete with a spacious shower, WC and basin.
The kitchen has a 4 ring gas cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, kettle all the usual utensils and crockery. There is access to laundry facilities should you require. The Garden Room is a cosy (in the sun or when the fire’s on) conservatory with garden furniture, BBQ and log burning stove.
In addition to your stay and comfort, we provide WiFi access, night storage heaters in addition to the log burning stove. There is a gas BBQ provided, including basic starter kits for the log burner, with more items available should you require.
Pets are more than welcome (but not on the furniture please!)
