Villa in Normandy with Beach Access

House:
The highlight of this charming old villa is its fantastic location above the beach of La Potinière. From the large garden and almost every room in the house you have a wonderful view of the sea and the offshore coastal area. Inside, the holiday home is furnished in a very simple and rustic way, but it offers enough comfort for a nice holiday in Normandy. The staircase and the walls of the corridor have not yet been renovated. On the walls are inscriptions, correspondences of the Americans during the war. The large garden with its beautiful trees and barbecue area is an invitation to convivial outdoor meals. When you come back from the beach, the shower on the ground floor is particularly practical and it is precisely in high season that you will also appreciate the 3 parking spaces on your own land. The popular GR 233 hiking trail passes beneath the property and offers direct access to the white sandy beach below.

Tips from owner:
Barneville-Carteret is a charming seaside resort made up of two municipalities, with two harbours and three magnificent beaches, all of which have been awarded the Blue Flag for their water quality and environmental management. Carteret's beach, la Potiniere, faces south and is protected by rocks. Due to the influence of the Gulf Stream, the water here is slightly warmer. White-blue bathing cabins complete the picturesque atmosphere of this seaside resort, which was already popular at the turn of the last century and to which numerous holiday villas in Art Nouveau style still bear witness today. If you follow the publican's path, you will soon reach a beautiful viewpoint at the Carteret lighthouse, which has been showing sailors the way since 1839. Main distances: Sea and sandy beach: 200m, bar and restaurant 400m, village centre 1200m, supermarket 3700m, golf 4 km, horse riding 200m, boat trips 2000m, boat hire 3600m, sailing school 1200m.Cherbourg 38 km, Barfleur 56 km, Agon-Coutainville 51 km, Mont St Michel 127 km.

Remarks:
It is strictly forbidden to organise any student party, bachelor party or drinking party in this house Bring towels. Non smoking accommodation. not suitable for people with reduced mobility. Charging of e-vehicles not permitted

    General:
    Beste Lage 30m über dem Strand. Die 100m bis zum Meer treffen nur bei Flut zu, bei Ebbe sind es auch mal 700m, was aber kein Problem ist. Das Haus wird schrittweise saniert, mittlerweile ist auch das Treppenhaus neu verputzt. Die Dielen sind außer unter dem Dach noch unbehandelt. Das Haus riecht nach altem Holz und Mobiliar. Die Decken auf den Sofas waren löchrig, es stand im Treppenhaus Baumaterial herum. Die Küche hat die Patina einiger Jahrzehnte Nutzung, ist aber vollständig ausgestattet. Die Beleuchtung des Wohnraums ist unzureichend und im Treppenhaus hängt eine Lampe in der Fassung lose an der Wand. Während der Hitzewelle im Juni 26 war die Temperatur unter dem Dach deutlich über 30°, im Erdgeschoss aber angenehm. Trotz der beschriebenen Mängel empfehlenswert, aber bei Vollbelegung könnte es etwas laut werden, da es keine Trittschalldämmung gibt. Hervorragend war der Empfang durch die auch fließend Englisch sprechende ältere Dame.

    Die Lage des Hauses übertraf unsere Erwartungen, das ist leider auch das einzige positive des Hauses. Das Haus an sich ist in die Jahre gekommen, was nicht schlimm wäre, wenn es sauber gewesen wäre. Der muffige Gestank ging trotz lüftens nicht weg. Das Mobiliar ist teilweise Sperrmüllreif, besonders das Sofa im Wohnzimmer hervorzuheben welches abgedeckt war, aus gutem Grund, dort waren riesige Urin oder Blutflecken zu sehen. Die Küche bestand aus abfallender Tapete und zusammengeschusterten Küchenutensilien. Ebenso abgelaufene Lebensmittel die sich in den Schränken befanden. Von der Dusche im EG möchten wir nicht sprechen...auch das ein Haus, das für bis zu 9 Gästen ausgeschrieben ist nur 4 baufällige Liegen vorhält ist untypisch. Selbst durch die Lage des Hauses ist der Preis nicht zu rechtfertigen.

    Das Haus hat wahrscheinlich den besten Ausblick an der ganzen Bucht. Der Garten ist riesig und am Strand ist man zu Fuß in zwei Minuten. Baden im Meer war auch Ende September noch angenehm. Das Haus selbst ist alt, was aber seinen besonderen Reiz ausmacht und befindet sich in Renovierung. Es ist also ( noch ) nicht alles perfekt, aber darüber waren wir informiert. Dennoch war alles da, was wir brauchten, sehr schnelles Internet ( geht allerdings nur im EG, weiter oben wird schwierig ), gut ausgestattete Küche, Wäschekeller... Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen.
