You are 1 hour away from the fine sandy beaches of the Mediterranean. The village of Axat (13km) is the departure point of the tourist train "le train rouge" which takes you through the Agly valley over 48km. The surrounding area is criss-crossed with numerous hiking trails. Extreme sports enthusiasts will be delighted to try canyoning, paragliding or rafting along the tumultuous course of the river Aude or the Gorges de Galamus. Discover the magnificent and mysterious Cathar castles, in particular that of Quéribus (25km) which offers a majestic panorama and the opportunity to attend the famous sermon of the priest of Cucugnan in homage to Alphonse Daudet. The castle of Peyrepertuse (29km) will make you discover the vertiginous donjon Saint-Jordi and its chapel. There are also regional markets, the beautiful city of Perpignan (52 km) and its monuments which harmoniously blend various styles and bear witness to its rich and eventful history. In winter, the ski slopes of Font Romeu are only 70km from the gîte.
