Tips from owner:
Pets are welcome, and there are many local forests ideal for dog walking. The local village of Payzac (5 mins by car, or 25mins through the woods by bicycle!) has two excellent bakeries, a supermarket, post office, bank and many interesting small shops. There are restaurants in both Payzac and Savignac-Ledrier (also 5 mins by car). You can also enjoy the sandy beach and watersports at the Lac de Rouffiac-en-Perigord, which is only 10 min drive from the cottage. The Perigord Vert region of France is very picturesque and offers many opportunities for walking, cycling, canoeing, riding and fishing, as well as sightseeing with some notable chateaus, including Hautefort and Pompadour (with its famous national stud), a short drive away. There are many local restaurants nearby offering traditional Perigordine fare, including truffles and foie gras. There is a small 'parc acrobatique' (similar to 'go ape') approx. 25mins away. The large towns of Perigueux and Limoges are both within an hour’s drive. The location is well served by airports and the motorway network, with Limoges airport an hour’s drive and Bergerac airport 1.5hrs away. At Limoges, the toll-free A20 motorway provides excellent connections to Paris and beyond.
