The impressive rugged west coast can be reached in 20 minutes. Praia da Luz is an idyllic little seaside resort. Surfers also feel at home here. The black volcanic rock on the bay is characteristic. Especially the beautiful beach promenade with the typical Portuguese pavement invites you to stroll and relax. Worth seeing is the village church "Senhora da Luz" slightly elevated above the promenade; it was built in 1874. Diagonally opposite the church is the Fortaleza, the former fortress, which now houses a well-known restaurant.
