Wonderful views from the living room and bedroom across the Little Belt (Lillebælt), Thorø, Bågø and Jutland. The house is just 150 metres from the water.

Located in idyllic Thorøhuse, an old fishing village with a natural harbour, just 2 km from Assens.

The house has a large terrace overlooking the water, outdoor furniture, an orangery, two sun loungers and a barbecue.

Right on the doorstep, there are excellent opportunities for swimming, kayaking, windsurfing, kitesurfing, spearfishing, fishing and hiking, as well as the most beautiful sunsets.

The accommodation

Our home is made truly special by its seaside location, beautiful natural surroundings and the charming little natural harbour with fishing boats nearby. The house is situated in the old part of the fishing village of Thorøhuse, with its cosy narrow lanes. Our home is surrounded by old thatched cottages dating from the 19th century.

In and around Thorøhuse, you will find coastal meadows with birds and rare plants.

To the south, there is a pebble beach with a bathing jetty, as well as a shallow, child-friendly beach just 200 metres from our house.

There are also plenty of options for shorter or longer walks to Sønderby Klint, Thorø and Jordbassinerne in Assens.

Assens, an old market town dating back to 1524, is 2.5 km from Thorøhuse. Assens offers shops, museums, restaurants and Tobaksgården, a cultural centre hosting musical events. The town also has three discount supermarkets as well as a SuperBrugsen supermarket.

You can take the ferry from Assens harbour for a day trip to Bågø, or enjoy a rail-bike excursion in western Funen.

To the south, you will find Saltofte Strand, Sønderby Klint, Aa Strand, Hagenskov Estate and the beautiful Helnæs peninsula.

Restaurants such as Gl. Brydegaard and Gl. Avernæs focus on local ingredients, organic produce and animal welfare.

The house and surrounding area are ideal for couples and families. A travel cot is available for young children, and there is a child safety gate by the stairs on the first floor. The house is 130 m², and the kitchen is brand new.

Other things to note

Grethe and I do our best to care for nature and for the people around us.

We conserve water, take short showers and have water-saving devices fitted to the taps.

We collect rainwater for the garden and orangery.

We do not use artificial fertilisers, only natural fertilisers, and we do not use pesticides.

We sort all our waste.

No organic waste leaves our garden. We make our own compost and keep piles of branches and garden cuttings to support the natural environment.

Whenever possible, we try to buy second-hand items.

Our guests are very welcome to pick herbs from our permaculture garden.
