Located about 20 minutes from Florence and Lucca, Pistoia itself also has much to offer in terms of history, art, monuments, traditions and culinary specialties. Among the picturesque streets of the old town there are many good quality restaurants offering genuine traditional Tuscan dishes, as well as local wines, with a far more honest prices than most other tourist destinations. Very interesting is the big market that takes place on the monumental Cathedral Square and the surrounding streets two times a week (Wednesday and Saturday mornings). Of great interest are also the zoo and surrounding area, Montecatini with its thermal baths, the medieval villages of the Valdinievole, including Collodi, the town of Pinocchio and with the Leonardo Vinci museum. The villa is located only 30 minutes drive from the ski resort of Abetone. With its 80 km of trails the Apennines Pistoiese are a destination of national importance for winter sports. From December to April this is another good reason to visit our area, where you can practice all kinds of winter sports such as cross country skiing, downhill, snowboarding and sledding.
