Rio Elba is a medieval and mining town built in the X century. It is perched on the slopes of Mount Capannello at 178 meters above sea level, at the foot of Strega Mountain, right in the middle of the mining area. Rio is one of the oldest towns of the island and its inhabitants still preserve many local traditions. If you compare Rio to other towns, there isn’t a great variety of beaches around Rio, but its beaches are really spectacular. Among them, there are the renowned Ortano, Nisporto and Nisportino Beaches. Its eastern side is the mining heart of Elba. Here the beaches are mainly made of fine and bright sand. The southern coast, with its wonderful cliffs and beautiful coves that can be reached only by boat, can be considered its wildest area. Apartment 2/4 people: the apartment Le Ginestre is a nice two-room apartment with a comfortable living room and kitchenette with four gas burner stove, microwave, refrigerator, electric kettle and TV; a double bedroom; a bathroom with shower and washing machine.
